Secluded & Romantic Vacation
Are you looking for a peaceful and secluded cabin destination in a natural and private setting in the western North Carolina mountains? After a day of hiking and exploring waterfalls, return to your cabin in the forest and soak in your private hot tub. On chilly evenings, snuggle beside a wood-burning fire. The only "wild life" you will find here is turkeys, deer, bullfrogs and a multitude of songbirds. Take a hike on our new Big Rock Candy Mountain Trail!
Your log cabin is secluded at the end of a winding private drive in the lush forest. Sleep well in a handcrafted log bed and wake up to a kitchen already stocked with farm fresh eggs and fresh baked bread. Rejuvenate a couples massage on your deck or inside your cabin. What a vacation!
Things to Do
Our location near Asheville, Chimney Rock, Black Mountain and Lake Lure gives you countless options of attractions and outdoor activities in the Blue Ridge Mountains (if you want to leave your cabin). Hike at Chimney Rock Park, take a lake cruise, explore Biltmore Estate, go horseback riding or whitewater rafting, ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, shop for antiques, crafts or furniture, and mine for gold. Many waterfalls are nearby.
Eco Friendly & Pet Friendly Cabins
We are pro-ecology caretakers of the land. We created a wildlife sanctuary on eco-friendly Spring House Farm (and part of the NC Birding Trail) and used timber and stone from our land along with reclaimed antique lumber and materials to construct our log cabins. Eco Club and The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) recognize and list the Cottages at Spring House Farm as a genuine eco-retreat. The recognition is based on ecological and sound conservation practices. We are very proud to be the first property in the United States listed by Eco Club International! All of our cabins are pet-friendly.
Our vacation rental rates are inclusive. We provide linens, towels, fresh-baked bread and even firewood at no extra cost. Also, we don't add on a cleaning fee. Our 92-acre nature preserve is yours to explore with ponds, private gazebos, four miles of hiking trails, croquet, horseshoes and even hammocks on an island surrounded by lily pads! See our Packages page for more options for your stay and our special military discount special.
We hope to hear from you soon. We live in the 1826 Albertus Ledbetter House at the entrance to the farm, so we are here every day if you need us. We'll be glad to give you a tour of our home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, we will respect your privacy so you can retreat to your cabin and not see another person for your entire stay if you wish. In the meantime, enjoy our updates in the Hickory Nut Telegraph.
