Lake LureJust 12 miles from the secluded log cabins at Spring House Farm is Lake Lure, nestled among the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Hickory Nut Gorge. This sparkling jewel has been called "one of the most beautiful man made lakes in the world" by National Geographic. The famous Chimney Rock overlooks the lake.

Lake Lure is a well-known destination for thousands of visitors each year. The Rocky Broad River winds its way through a series of rapids down through Hickory Nut Gorge, and the crystal clear water flows through the valley that feeds Lake Lure.

You can enjoy the lake by walking the boardwalk by the Lake Lure Marina or even sun on a beach! You can also picnic by the lake and there are plenty of options to get out on the water.

At the Lake Lure Marina (Chimney Rock side of the lake), you can take a covered boat tour while your skipper guides you past local attractions and landmarks such as the locations used in filming the popular Dirty Dancing. Listen to the legends, and learn about the natural and cultural history of Hickory Nut George, home to Lake Lure, North Carolina. Tours are offered daily April-October and weekends in March and November.

To be the skipper of your own boat, rent a pontoon or electric boat at the Marina. Hydro bikes, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes are also available. The Marina is open daily April-October and weekends in March and November.

The sandy beach is surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Relax under the sun, float on the water, or picnic. The beach is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Lake LureLake Lure Adventure Company is located on the other end of the later, closer to the Cottages at Spring House Farm. The Adventure Company sits across from the Dam Marina, where you can stock up on beverages and snacks for your cooler. Hang out on the sundeck with a view of the island in Lake Lure, while you wait for your trip or pontoon boat. Go waterskiing, wake boarding or wake surfing. Or rent a luxurious pontoon boat to cruise Lake Lure. They also provide private and guided fishing trips on the lake. Lake Lure is stocked with trout, bass, bluegill and catfish every year. The Lake Lure Adventure Company is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Lake Lure is a small town with a lot to do in nature. Also enjoy local spots for some music, good food, and cool atmosphere, take a hike, climb the Chimney Rock, or study the history. Shopping includes: general stores, antique shops, clothing outfitters, souveniers and more.

After a visit to Lake Lure, return to your secluded cabin in the North Carolina mountains. Enjoy a massage on your deck or a catered dinner just for two.
